The proposed works will create additional space at the GP clinic in east London
Work has started on the redevelopment of Comely Bank Clinic in east London.
The £800,000 variation project, funded by Community Health Partnerships (CHP) is being carried out by LIFTCo partner, RWF Health and Community Developers, and will see a new GP practice occupy existing void space in a building that was originally opened in 2005.
Works will include:
In line with the primary clinical care strategy set up by the local Integrated Care System (ICS) in the Waltham Forest area, the project will improve the delivery of GP services for the local community.
And, moving from a shopfront premises, the Bailey Practice will have access to purpose-built accommodation at the Comely Bank Clinic.
CHP’s programme manager, Alison Butcher, said: “I’m thrilled to see the variation work starting at Comely Bank Clinic.
“The need for improved access to GP and other healthcare services, close to home is greater than ever.
“Working closely with our partners, once complete the new GP service will cater for many patients in the local area, and enable improved use of space within this valuable community building.”
RWF Health and Community Developers director, Mark Jackson, added: “Being able to support CHP and the ICS in the delivery of this variation as a key member of the team has meant that we have been able to truly harness the value of the LIFT model and the professional supply chain it brings.
“We have welcomed this opportunity to bring life back into a void area of the building with the vital new community health service that the GP practice will bring.”
